Curriculum Overview

What's Inside IDEAS

IDEAS for College and Career Readiness Plans is a supplemental curriculum that balances teacher-led instruction with student-driven exploration — helping students discover who they are, where they are going, and what steps they can take next through structured lessons, peer learning, reflection, discussion, and planning.

For Teachers

Built for Teachers — Not Just Counselors

Counselors play a vital role in college and career planning, but they cannot carry the entire implementation load alone. IDEAS helps schools bring career readiness into classrooms by giving teachers ready-to-use materials that support discussion, reflection, and student engagement.

Teachers do not need to be career counseling experts to facilitate IDEAS.

The curriculum provides a clear structure for helping students talk, think, write, reflect, use exploratory resources and tools, and connect school success to future opportunity.

Teachers can use IDEAS to help students:

Build academic confidence

Practice goal setting

Strengthen communication skills

Reflect on personal strengths and challenges

Explore postsecondary options

Connect interests to career pathways

Understand the habits needed for success

Participate in meaningful classroom discussion

For Students

Helping Students See a Future They Can Work Toward

Students are more likely to engage in career planning when they understand how it connects to their own lives.

IDEAS helps students move beyond "What job do I want?" and begin asking deeper questions:

What kind of learner am I?

What are my strengths?

What challenges do I need to overcome?

What choices am I making now?

What kind of support do I need?

What opportunities might be available to me?

What steps can I take this year?

This makes IDEAS especially valuable for middle school and early high school students, when career exploration should be developmental, reflective, and connected to identity, habits, and decision making. Students closer to graduating can accelerate their processes and navigate their postsecondary options.

Platform Partnership

Designed to Complement Career Planning Platforms

IDEAS can be used alongside digital college and career readiness platforms to strengthen implementation.

Where platforms provide assessments, dashboards, portfolios, and tracking, IDEAS provides the teacher-led classroom experience that helps students prepare for, interpret, and act on what they learn.

IDEAS supports platform implementation by helping schools:

Prepare students before online career assessments

Build background knowledge around college and career vocabulary

Increase student reflection after completing digital activities

Give teachers structured discussion tools

Reduce passive "click-through" completion

Strengthen classroom engagement

Help districts connect software use to meaningful instruction

The Platform

Organizes the data.

IDEAS

Develops the student thinking behind the data.

Bring the Human Side of Career Readiness Into Every Classroom

IDEAS helps students build more than a plan — it helps them build the confidence, habits, awareness, and decision-making skills to move toward that plan.
